Many thanks firstly to Rebecca M. for the personal library look ups. I envy
you your collection.
By the 1870 census the widow of Sydnor B. Anderson is living in the
household of her son Sydnor A "Doll" Anderson in Clinton Co. 4 of her other
children are also there.
In 1882, a son Albertus (Bert) dies supposedly at his mother's residence in
Thorntown. He is buried at Brush Creek and his passing is marked on a three
person monument shared with his mother and his sister Emma who wed John
Marshall Moyer. The stone looks so new compared to its base. There is a
conflict between what is carved on the stone as a date of death for Susan
Green Anderson and the date that appears in an online compilation by David
Lee Guinn. This record was published by the Thorntown Public Library. He
recorded her particulars as 2 Mar 1905. I have tried to resolve this issue
by contacting a person with knowledge of the Brush Creek Cem. I was told
that the cemetery records were lost in a fire.
Susan Green Anderson would have been about 92 if she died in 1905. While
this is possible, I think it unlikely. If she did indeed live to 1905,
surely there would be a newspaper account of her passing. I really need an
obituary search. I have contacted 3 persons listed on Random Acts of Gen
Kindness and have had no replies. Perhaps the people listed no longer
participate. I'd like to know what there might be in the 2 Mar 1905 local
newspaper. Here is where someone local could really help me.
Thanks for your interest.
