Thank you, ma'am, very much, for your volunteer service. I did have the marriage
dates that are confirmed in your message, but your notation that the marriage of Sarah
Chrisman and William Coddington was officiated by Simon Farlow is of great interest to
another of my Davis cousins who came across a Farlow reference in a Davis family bible,
and has been trying for a long time to get a line on that Davis/Farlow connection. So
with this help from you, perhaps a door has been opened.
Driving the Oregon Trail is a great experience: my wife and I have driven it from St.
Louis to Oregon City, and I would like to do it again. You might find it interesting that
at Independence Rock in Wyoming I found an inscription "W. Coddington" carved in
the face of the rock; and I choose to believe it was "my" William Coddington,
the same person mentioned in your note who married Sarah Chrisman in Boone County in 1833.
William and Sarah traveled the Oregon Trail with (or around the time of) the Davis /
Coddington / Chrisman party mentioned in my post on this bulletin board.
Thanks again.
