It is likely that there was a school house in Dover at that time. This might be shown for
Jefferson Twp. in one of the early county plat books. I believe there is one printed in
1876 that I've seen in the Lebanon Public Library. The 1984 "Boone County
Indiana History" (p. 130) states that "Jefferson Township originally had 13 one
room schools. After a few years, 11 schools remained. Down through the years the number
dwindled till (sic) only about six existed before consolidation."
