Sorry I meant James,
JAMES THREEWITS
and he lived near
ZIONSVILLE, Boone County, INDIANA.
I found him in the census records, and he was born in 1846 and died in 1893.
His parents were Valentine & Verlinda Windsor Threewits.
He married Mariam Adelade Lemman / Lemon on December 24, 1874,
and they had three children together:
William Franklin (b. 1875) ~ Albert Ellsworth (b. 1878) ~ Sarah Emma (b. 1881)
James was a very faithful writer who filled nearly every page with writing.
He writes about the hard work he does to provide for his family
like splitting wood, doing field work, making cider & apple butter, etc.
He writes of local news, such as marriages, sickness, accidents, deaths, and funerals
and he helped dig a grave,
went to visit those he knew who were sick or injured.
He attended the State Fair, a barn raising,
and went to get medicine from the doctor for his sick children.
He writes of fixing up his parents graves, a Democratic Rally's, death from Typhoid
Fever,
a woman dying two weeks after giving birth to her son,
of his son's feet getting badly burned by a fire,
and much more!
This diary has a lot of names of names in it,
and would be wonderful for anyone doing genealogy research,
and also for anyone looking for an interesting read!
This is an incredible piece of Americana !!!
It has 365 handwritten entries that nearly fill 178 pages!
It measures 4 1/2" x 7", and it is in good condition with no loose or missing
pages.
As a wonderful bonus,
(especially for those interested in the people from this area),
in the back of the diary there are 2 pages filled with the names of those who died during
1884
with the date & cause of their deaths.
There is also a page full of the names of those who were married!
HERE ARE SOME EXCERPTS TAKEN FROM THE DIARY,
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE PARTIAL ENTRIES, THERE IS MUCH MUCH MORE FOR YOU TO READ!
