Have you consdiered the fact an earlier census taker might have misspelled it as
"Kahoe"?

I'm stuck here, and would appreciate any help anyone can give.
I'm looking to find information on the parents of Thomas Jefferson Cahoe, born Jan.
13, 1850 in Lebanon. He appears in the 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930. When such
censuses have parents birth information, the father is listed as either Ireland (earlier
censuses) or Scotland (later censuses) and the mother listed as Indiana.
He had a sister named Rosie, who was mentioned in his obituary as Rosie Cahoe Sapp. He
married Rachel Elizabeth Blazer on September 21, 1871 in Lebanon. He died on Jul. 26, 1933
in Watseka, Illinois.
I have not had any luck finding the family in censuses prior to the 1880 one, when he
could be living at home, with father and mother listed. There also seems to be little to
no mention of any Cahoes in the region at all before 1880.
If anybody can help me out on this, I'd be extremely grateful. Thank you.
