It's my understanding (I'm a neonatal intensive care nurse) that a gestational 7
month-old baby would not have survived in those times. Seven months is the difference
between your date of Dinah's birthdate and Rachel's birthday, or if
Dinah/Dicey's birthdate is March 1832, Dinah/Dicey wouldn't have survived at 6
months gestation. Therefore, I conclude that Rachel Ann Perkins could not have been born
to Jesse and Charlotte Perkins. There is a lot of documentation on birth dates for both
Dinah/Dicey and Rachel Ann so I don't dispute those dates, just parentage. By the way,
I am related to Mary Perkins (b. 1841 in Boone, IN) daughter of Jesse and Charlotte
Perkins-on my father's side. Susan
