Dear MEKessler,
Thank you for your reply and your information. You will find my reply
below, between the "quotes" from your message.
Have you read OUR BRETHEREN COUSINS, Mennonite Family History, Elder
Jacob
Stutzman, 1752 Immigrant? Six pages by Dr. John Scott Davenport, a 30
yr.
experienced genealogist? Your Elizabeth is included in his info. If
you
haven't, I will be glad to copy and forward to you. I believe Dr.
Davenport is
deceased but I can verify for you later.
I have not read OUR BRETHEREN COUSINS, nor did I know it existed, and I
appreciate your offer to send me a copy. I may take you up on it.
Dr. John, or "Doc" (which he prefers to be called) is alive and well
and living in New Jersey. He is my 1st cousin twice removed (his Uncle
John L. was my great grandfather) and we correspond at least weekly. He
is still a very active researcher and continues to publish the results
of his efforts, recently on the Internet. His latest work can be found
at
http://users.intercomm.com/nvjack/davnport/pamunkey.htm.
The other book is GENEALOGY of the HERBERT HOOVER FAMILY by
Hulda Hoover Mc Lean, The Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and
Peace,
Stanford University, 1967 The Jacob Hoover info is page 26, item F,
which is
a family listing of their 10 children. I assume you are aware of the
prominence that Austin Davenport played in the history of Zionsville
and Eagle
Twp., Boone Co.
I did not know about this book either. I shall have to look for it.
I was aware that Augustine "Austin" Davenport, my 4th great grandfather,
was one of the pioneers of Boone County, that he was the county's first
Sheriff, and that he served in the State Legislature from 1832-1834.
If I can be of any additonal help, let me know.
Thank you for your offer and I certainly will.
Warmest regards,
Nevada Jack
