I received information regarding a Minerva Jane Hedrick born 1832 d. 5 Dec
1914 WorhTownship who evidently was the wife of John H. Hedrick who was a
wagon maker and lived in Whitestown. He was born in 1829 NC and settled in
Boone Co IN in 1865 and a Lutheran. He is listed in the 1870 census Worth Twp
age 41 born NC. I don't have a list of the children's names yet.
I suspect this Minerva to be the person I am looking for. I think she may
have been Minerva Jane Balch, daughter of Henry Bolch/Balch /Bolick and Sally
Hunsucker.
In the 1850 census Cocke Co. Tenn I find a John Hedrick living in the
household of Daniel Hedrick age 30 born NC. Daniel's wife Susan age 28, and
their children: Absolem age 9, William age 7, May age 5, Parthenia age 2.
Living down the road is a D. Hedrick (male) age 28 born NC and his wife Sarah
age 24, and children: William age 6, John age 7, & Eliza age 5.
I suspect the John Hedrick living in Daniel's household may be the same John
Hedrick above. I can't find my Balch's listed anywhere on the 1850 census,
but know they were in Cocke Co. Tenn in the early 1850's. I suspect they may
have been traveling from Catawba Co. NC to Cocke Co. TN and were not
enumerated.
Anyone researching this family?
