I find all of the recent information on the Harmons very interesting. I was
unaware until now that there were any Harmons, early, in Boone Co. I've
done some research on the Harmons that were in Washington Co, IN very early
(they were the ones that came up from NC.) Previous to that, they were in
VA (Montgomery Co and area), and before that, PA (where they landed when
they came from Germany.) For those that are interested, if you go to the
(believe it is) Augusta Co, VA USGenWeb site, there are both the "New River
Valley Notes" and Chalkley's report links. Both are extremely interesting.
There are also many interesting web sites that can be found on the Harmons.
They were quite the Indian fighters. ( My records do show a Mathias Harmon
who probably died in Clark Co, TN who was related but I have nothing further
on this family.)
I'm extremely interested in the Harmons that went to Kentucky. Information
(for me, anyway) on them has been extremely elusive. There is some definite
hints there that indicate strongly that they were from the same area and are
related to the rest of the Harmons found in VA & NC. There was a Cutlif
HARMON (1747, NC-1831, NC) is said to have been a friend, hunting companion
and was also employed by Daniel Boone. There was also some WYNNs in both VA
and KY (one line, at least, married into the Harmons) and this is where my
interest lies. Am I assuming right that the KY Harmons are the ones who
migrated to Boone Co?
My main interest is in the PAVEY family. My ancestor, John Pavey, d: 1814,
Washington Co, IN. is said to be the Pavey who was the early Indian scout
that came to that area. Who we believe was his brother, William Pavey (b:
1783, PA), md. Caty WYNN in Kentucky. Cutliff HARMON (1809-1868) was the
Admin. to the Estate of John Pavey's son (my ancestor), Anderson Pavey
(d:1855, Washington Co, IN.) On the 1860 census, Anderson Pavey's widow and
several of his children are found in Boone Co, Centre twp.
Does anyone have any further information on the Harmons of KY, or any WYNN
family?
Thanks.
