Subject: Re: [BRE] Searching for BOLLINGER Mary
Bollinger is a common Brethren name... but I was interested to find some
Byroads including a John M. who died in IN in 1917 at age 87... The obit
index would not cover the time period of John, Jr.... Do you have the
names of the John, Jr sons.. There are two in the index who might be
sons.. In addition to John M there is also a David who m. Charlotte
Farrand
and then Abigail Large or vice versa... John M. m. Susanna
Woodland..
Here is David's obituary but it still leaves it unclear...
From The Gospel Messenger November l8, 1916
Byroad, Bro. David, born in Darke County, Ohio, April 9, 1835, died near
Reynolds, White Co., Ind., Oct. 31, 1916, aged 81 years, 6 months and 22
days. He grew to manhood in Ohio and there married Abigail Large. Dec.
28,
1854. To this union were born five sons and five daughters of whom
three
sons and two daughters preceded him in death. His wife also died June 26,
1910. He was married Jan. 7, 1913 to Charlotte Farrand, of Martinsville,
Ind., who survives him. On the evening of Oct. 28, while returning from
the church, his horse ran away, fatally injuring him and also injuring his
wife. He has been a member of the Church of the Brethren at this place
since June, 1882, and served as a deacon for several years. He is
survived by one brother, John, who is blind and feeble, his companion, two
sons and three daughters. Services by the writer in the Oak Grove church
near his home. Text, Job 5;26. During the Civil War he served for nearly
three years in Co. F. 86th Reg. Ind. Vol. J. S. Stinebaugh, Camden, Ind
I also find one of David and Abigails daughters and two of John M's
daughters on the obit list.
Hope this helps someway.
