Hello Boone County list members,
The question was asked if I will be doing a book. The answer to that question is no. With
posting information
on the web everyone else already has the information. No need to do that anymore.
I offered to send an attachment of the obituaries and stories to any Boone County list
member that asked.
Please email me your address so it will not make the list so long with requests. I then
can just click reply to
your email address and make an attachment and send it off. My email address is
johnprice(a)home.com

A.F. NELSON shipped last Friday the largest car of hay that was ever shipped from
Jamestown; it was clover hay
and consisted of 248 bales and weighed here 18 tons and 1200 pounds. CALLABAN and Son of
Louisville, Ky., were
the purchasers. Mr. NELSON can't get cars enough to handle the hay he could ship.

Railroad Accident-
On Saturday as the noon train was approaching Zionville, a man named Wm. HENDERSON, of
Carlisle, Ky., fell from
the platform of the rear car. The engine was stopped, and the man was picked up
insensible, by the conductor,
and carried to Zionsville, where medical attention was given him, but he died about six
oclock. Coroner
ATKINSON went down on Sunday morning and summoning a jury a post mortem examination was
held, and the verdict
returned in accordance with the above facts.

Whooping cough is raging among the children of this city. Several cases of typhoid have
been reported in and
near town.
* Note from Janet ISLEY Price, I am posting this story for others. No other information
was given. I did a
search on the Internet and came up with what typhoid is all about and have copied and
pasted the results below.
**Salmonella Typhi lives only in humans. Persons with typhoid fever carry the bacteria in
their bloodstream and
intestinal tract. In addition, a small number of persons, called carriers, recover from
typhoid fever but
continue to carry the bacteria. Both ill persons and carriers shed S. Typhi in their feces
(stool).
You can get typhoid fever if you eat food or drink beverages that have been handled by a
person who is shedding
S. Typhi or if sewage contaminated with S. Typhi bacteria gets into the water you use for
drinking or washing
food.
Therefore, typhoid fever is more common in areas of the world where hand washing is less
frequent and water is
likely to be contaminated with sewage.
Once S. Typhi bacteria are eaten or drunk, they multiply and spread into the bloodstream.
The body reacts with
fever and other signs and symptoms.
I was asked to check for information about Woodford CULLEY who was murdered 5 Oct. 1866 in
Boone County,
Indiana. I checked the following week and there was a newspaper on the 11th. There was no
murder or obituaries
of anyone that week. No mention of a murder. The following week had mainly election
returns of the whole United
States and local elections. There was a cut out of an article on page two which effected
the front and back of
the page also a cut out on page 3 which effected the front and back of the page. It also
affected one of the
columns with an obituary of the FISH surname since it was torn out and not cut out. I
will include the Fish
surname below with dots to replace the missing text.
