If you don't already have them listed, here are some Civil War Soldiers who
served from Boone Co IN.
Joseph C. Jaques (13 March 1843-12 Dec 1921) and Lewis W. Jaques (12 Aug
1854-11 Dec 1919) They were brothers of my gr grandmother, Harriet Jaques
Pauley.
Her husband, Linneous L. Pauley (5 Aug 1849-18 April 1917) also served. He
enlisted as a Pvt. in Co. G, 4/16/1864, age 14, and was wounded by a gunshot
a month later, 5/24/1864, at North Anna River VA and was hospitalized.
Following his hospitalization, he was transferred to Co F and m.o. 7/2/1865.
I'm not certain if he is listed as serving from Boone Co. He was born
there, listed in 1850, 1860 census there, married and died there, but his
enlistment papers gives his place of residence as Tippecanoe Co. I would be
interested to know if he is listed among the Boone Co soldiers. He gave his
age as being "over 18" and we've heard that story. His recruiter knew
better, as he was his brother, John W. Pauley. b. ca. 1840. Their parents
were both deceased. John and Linneous were enumerated with their parents,
John & Hannah Emily Swinney/Sweaney Pauley, in 1850 and with their uncle,
Joseph Pauley, in the 1860 census. I received John' service record with
Linneous' and they served to gether in both companys, however no m.o date was
shown for John, so I don't know if he survived. Would be interested to know
if anyone has info on John W Pauley.
