Footstones are usually the small stone with initials on them that were placed at the foot
of the grave to mark it. Many of them are pulled up by mowing crews, and set against
trees, headstones, fence rows. Some are sunken and below ground level. The pioneer
cemeteries had them, I put them back in.

Mark,
Thank you for your generous offer! I do have pictures of some of the stones
as I was there. What are footstones? I will work on putting together the
list.

Neilia,
Give the names and I will try to get you a digital photo of the stones.

Unfortunately, I live in California, so that won't be an easy trip. Is
there anyway I can get a listing of all the surnames I am interested in?

stones(and many more) are restored. I think the last count was right at
100
done during Phase 1 and 2, with about 90 to complete in 2004. If
you
have
never seen a restored pioneer cemetery then you are in for a real
treat.
Footstones are in place, stones clean and straight, rows in line, white
marble
is gleaming, and most inscriptions are very readable. Your photos
would
look
very different now. A book of documentation with before and after
photos
is in the posession of Ralph Stacey, township advisory board.
