I have 2 obits for John A. J, Sims along with a Picture of the above couple. I'm not
sure how I am connected.This was in some of my Aunts things. She married into the Doty
line. Here is the 2 obits as written.
1st obit for J. A. J. Sims there are no dates or where it was published. Typed as written
J. A. J. Sims
J. A.J. Sims an aged resident of Boone County, died at his home near Terhune early Tuesday
morning, He was a native of South Carolina and came to Indiana in 1840. He settled in Rush
County and later moved to Boone County, where he became engaged in the lumber, grain and
timber trade. He was well known in Boone County. He was 82 years old and leaves a wife and
five children Geo. W., William A., Nancy, Jane and Mary

Sims
J. A. J. Sims born Dec. 23, 1821 in Abboville District, South Carolina. After the death of
his father his mother with her family of children moved to Rush Co., Indiana in May 1836.
He was united in marriage to Hannah J. Groves of Rush Co., Indiana Jan. 13, 1842. To this
union was born : Geo., W. Sims, W. A. Sims, Buenna Vista Thistlethwaite, deceased, Judson
B. Sims, deceased, Nancy Ellen Cody, Elizabeth Jane Stephenson, and Mary M. Bell.
In April 1854 he with his family moved to Hamilton County and in Nov., 1857 moved to Boone
County, where he resided until his death.
The deceased united with the Christian Church while a youth and lived a consistent and
exemplary Christian life until death and through all his sickness he daily offered prayer.
The deceased was 81 years, 1 mo. and 4 days old. He leaves a wife and five children to
mourn.
