As a Rootsweb list administrator myself, I heartily concur that
subscribers need to send new email addresses to people in their address
books and change their list subscriptions the proper way. However, if a
person has posted information or queries to a list, I'd encourage
members of my lists to post a brief "refresher" like "Still looking for
information on the John Smith family of Podunk ca. 1850-1890. Note my
new email address: someone(a)somewhere.com." It's such a disappointment to
get a lead on an ancestor, find a message concerning the person in the
Rootsweb archives, but have your email returned because the poster's
address is no longer valid. If you're lucky they're still actively
following the list and will see a "Seeking Mary Doe..." post but if
you're not you're still standing beside that brick wall.

Many List members are already sending to the Lists, new mailing
addresses,
which should not be sent to Mailing Lists, but to specific persons.
Mailing
Lists require you to SUBSCRIBE by an email, and UNSUBSCRIBE by an
email. You can
send your new email address OFFLINE to specific persons, rather than
an email
into the ARCHIVES.
