'DAILY, SAMUEL S.
Born in New Carlise, Ohio, Nov.16,1841 and grew to manhood in the home in
that place,of his parents, Charles R.and Mary A. Daily. He was educated in the
public schools and academy of his native place. Enlisted in the 16th Ohio
Battery. He served about two years when because of broken health he was discharged.
As soon as he was able he came to Indiana to accept a position in the office
of his brother,
A. C. Daily, who was at the time Auditor of Boone Co.
Having regained his health in May, 1861,he again enlisted in the army,this
time in
the 135 Ind. inf...With the fulfillment of his duty he entered upon an active
and successful business career. He was first engaged with R. S. Camplin in a
dry goods business in this city. In 1870 he was elected treasurer of Boone Co.
He then engaged in the banking business. In Oct. 1863 he married Miss Zerilda
Daugherty, daughter of Judge Daugherty, dec.of this city. Two sons, Frank and
Rush were born to them and with the mother survives."
