Marjorie,
In the piece in the Early Life and Times in Boone County about John
Duzan it mentions a son who died in Oregon and was buried on the
Columbia. I have read this before and have been curious about a member
of the Jones family wagon train who died enroute to Oregon. His name was
given as Mark A. Dugan, but I have often thought that he was probably a
Duzan as they were living nearby the Jones family in Boone county. He
died June 22, 1852 somewhere on the Oregon Trail. Most likely of
Cholera, although I have read accounts he was killed by indians which I
believe is a stretch.
I have a marriage of Foster Hensley to Polly Cully, March 28, 1804 in
Henry County, KY.
Also a James Cully turns up as a witness to a Deed for Richardson
Hensley I in Spotsylvania County, VA, September 29, 1784.
Richardson Hensley I served in the Spotsylvania County, VA militia
during the revolution. He and family immigrated to Henry County, KY c1792.
The Garrett and Hensley families are connected by a number of marriages.
I have a marriage between Elizabeth A. Cully and Frederick S. Lowe,
October 29, 1873 in Boone County. Do you have this person in your
database? The Lowe's and Hoovers were related by marriage to the
Davenports and immigrated from NC with them.
