Marjorie,
The last message you sent was very interesting in several ways.
(First) The the Edward Davenport who married Margaret Cully was my
GGGrandmothers brother. Their son James died in the Civil War.
(Second) My 5th Great Grandparent's names were James Cully and Sarah
McNeil whose daughter Elizabeth Cully b. 7/15/1785 in Greenbrier County,
VA married Richardson Hensley in Shelby County, KY.
I don't know if the James Cully described in your posting and mine are
the same, but it is quite probable. My Davenport and Hensley roots
settled in Jackson County, IN and then moved north to Johnson County and
the Davenports were in Boone County around 1828. I haven't worked much
on the Cully connection. I was chasing back my Jones roots who settled
in Boone county c1832. The whole extended family picked up and moved to
Oregon in 1852 leaving Northfield, except for two brothers Jacob and
James Jones who stayed behind and raised their families around
Zionsville. Ida Jones who married George Culley is a descendant of this
line.
It would be a nice surprise if we were talking about the same James
Cully. What do you think?
