It would be a nice surprise if we were talking about the same James
Cully. What do you think?
Several years ago I posted a query on the Brown County website....... some
info was sent to me.....
The Woodford listed in the estate records would be of the age to be my
Woodford.... but then where were Henry T. Culley and James Alexander Culley - so
maybe they were not brothers.... could be cousins.... James Alexander named
one of his children Woodford... but that seems to be a family name
The info that follows came from several sources.... but the important one is
from Judith Ulrich, 2205 Platinum Dr., Sun City Center, FL, 33573....... I
found it on
Ancestry.com and did contact her..... she said someone sent it to
her, and she would look through her records and see what else she had... but
she never did....
and as you can see by the notes that follow... no estate records of any kind
are found in Brown County... from my correspondence with people from that
county, I think someone just up and took them.....
Hope some of the unorganized information helps you..

To Marge,
I just returned from Nashville. Believe me, there is no Probate book 1
there . probate records were stored in boxes and these have been given to the
Historical society and the Reeves indexed all of them and published a book.
There is no Culley in these files. Gladys Tratebas and I went to the
Historical society and checked.
First, I would check with the Florida lady and make certain that she did not
mistake Brown for Boone or some other county.
Second, I would send a query to Monroe and Boone Countiies.

James Culley purchased three parcels totaling 168 acres from the federal
government in 1935-6. This land was bordering Johnson Co. If Woodford was his
son he may have been living with him or some other child when he died, in
which case his will would be probated in that county.
John and William also purchased a lot of land nearby. They could have been
speculating and never lived there. (Federal Land Entries for Brown Co.,
Indiana. Brown co. Genealogical Society)
I will keep James in mind and if I find anything further I will let you know.
