I was asked to look up some obituaries in the 1860's. in Boone County. While I did not
find what the person
was looking for, there was some other stories and obituaries that I though might be of
interest to other's on
the list.
Some of these newspapers were very hard to read because the paper was so thin the ink
could be read on both
sides of the paper. So I used a magnifying glass and read forwards and backwards. Some of
the text was so
blurred I could not decipher what was what. There is also a list of marriages and also
marriages licenses I
will type up at a later date. Enjoy!

Mrs. JOLLY, a widow lady living about three miles east of this place, was bitten by a mad
dog on last Saturday
evening, though whether it will result in hydrophobia is not yet know. The mad stone was
immediately applied
but without any effect. It is thought she was not bitten through her clothes. The rabid
animal was passing
through westward biting and snapping at every object in its course. Several dogs and hogs
we understand were
bitten. If this be the case we trust that means will be taken to prevent further damage.

A WAIF- Some three weeks since a strange woman stopped at the residence of Thomas
BURKHALTER near Thorntown,
having in her possession a young babe. She had been there about two weeks when through,
pretended business to
town she left the babe in the care of the family and has, as we suppose, not finished her
business yet, as she
has not returned. She will not doubt be astonished on her return at the kindness of Mr.
BURKHALTER, for he has
as we understand procured for the infant a home with a friend ABBOTT on the country farm.
