Dear Jane,
Gee, I'm so glad you took over the Boone Co. site; obviously, you didn't have
enough to do. ;-)
What do I want from Boone Co.? Anything from anyone who has ever hear any
mention of a Hazard in the time frame of just before and during the Civil
War.
In one source, John Polk Hazard "entered this mundane sphere" in 1850 in
Boone Co., Indiana; another source says, as to birth date, that he "was
eleven years old when the Civil War began." A third source states that he
was born around 1855 in either Indiana or Kentucky. He also was supposed to
be related to President James Knox Polk, but "the family hated his [Pres.
Polk's] politics so much they turned the name around." -- Whatever the heck
that means!!
:-)
