To Nancy in Illinois,
The Jones Cemetery is about seven or eight miles north of Lebanon, Indiana. I
think it is in Marion Township and I don't know the road number, but I am sure
anyone living in Boone County could look it up for you.
I can tell you a little bit about it. It is located on a farm, directly behind
the house and barn. I have been there many times. My great grandparents are
buried there. You have to access the cemetery through the farmer's lane. I
don't know the current owner of the farm, but I do have the following
information that I can share.
Benjamin Franklin Jones I moved from Rush County Indiana to Boone County Indiaan
and purchased 400 acres of land. Part of this land was where the Jones Cemetery
is. There was one person buried, where the cemetery is, and when Mr. Jones's
daughter was ill, her request was to be buried on the farm. She picked out the
plot and that was the start of the Jones Cemetery.
Mr. Jones sold the farm to his son, who was also named Benjamin Franklin Jones,
II. He in turn sold the farm in 1916 to Fred Stahl. After that it has gone
through several owners. (this information was provided by the great
granddaughter of Benjamin Franklin Jones I.)
I would be interested in exchanging information with you if you have anything on
the Jones family. My great grandmother was Eunice Eleanor Jones, daughter of
John Jones of Culpeper County, Va and Mary (Polly) Richardson of Pulaski County,
Kentucky. This couple was married in Rush County, Indiana in 1822.
I have been told that my Jones and the Jones Cemetery Jones were not related,
but I suspect that they were. Both came to Boone County from Rush County
Indiana. They may have been distant relatives.

Hello: I read w/interest the message from Ken Jones about his family, and
I am hoping that someone can tell me where the JONE CEMETARY is in Boone
Co. My mother was born in BOONE Co and her grandmother on her father's
(SEALE) side of the family was a JONES, ELIZA JONES. ELIZA's father was
SAMUEL JONES.
Just want to know about the Cemetary and if the names are familiar to
anyone. Thanks so much, Nancy/Illinois
