Based on all my research, Francis Bowen and Sarah Glasscock Turley ARE the parents of John
A. Bowen.
Francis Bowen
1810 Census
Fauquier County, Virginia
Series: M252 Roll: 68 Page: 510a

Francis Bowen
1820 Census
Marysville, Harrison County, Kentucky.
Series: M33 Roll: 23 Page: 104a
Free White Males:

26 and under 45: 1
Free White Females:
Under 10: 3
16 and under 26: 1
26 and under 45: 1
NOTE: Census shows one foreigner not naturalized. Since Sarah was born in Fauquier
County, Virginia [daughter of William Turley and Margaret Glasscock], this would indicate
that Francis was the immigrant in the household. Though he lists his place of birth as
Virginia, Francis' probable place of birth was likely Wales.

NOTE: Evidence would suggest that Francis Bowen and Sarah Glasscock Turley were the
parents of John A. Bowen. This is the only couple I have ever found that fits these exact
movements at the right time.

The census was taken 15 June 1880, and Cary was not quite 3 months old. Somehow Emanuel
and Cary were listed as one person.
The 1880 census seems to indicate that the Bowen and Louck families met while in Jay
County, and traveled to Nebraska together. William Henry Bowen later married Mary
Elizabeth Louck in Hall County, NE.

1810: Sons: 1 Daughters: 1.
1820: Sons: 3 Daughters: 4.
1830: Sons: 5 [ 1] Daughters: 5.
1840: Sons: ? Daughters: ?. ß [I don't have the 1840 census.]
1850: Sons: 1 Daughters: 1.
Since John would have been on his own by 1830, and Harrison wasn't born until after
the 1830 census, there should be at least 12 children.
Also note that Francis, Thomas, and Sampson each had their name misspelled as Bowin on at
least one census record. Francis in 1830, Thomas and Sampson in 1870. But where was John
in 1870?
