I appreciate your prompt response in an effort to clarify the facts. This is helpful, but
I would like to see the 1984 book myself.
Do you have suggestions on how to do that from outside the area? Would the Crawfordsville,
IN Public Library have a copy that I could pursue on interlibrary loan?
Since your reply today I have reviewed the census data available on
ancestry.com for all
Elijah Trospers from 1820 to 1870 and find them primarily in Daviess County MO (three of
them), not in Laurel Co, KY. There was one as head of household in KY in 1820 in Knox Co
and another in 1840. I do not find one as head of household in 1830 in KY when it would
have been logical to have appeared prior to the Dec. 1834 birthdate for James. I continue
to search. Geographical pointers appreciated.
A James A. Trosper who served in the KY 24th in the Civil War appeared to continue to be
alive in Laurel County, KY in 1890 in the 1890 Veterans Census. He also appears in
censuses later than 1920. Other military pointers appreciated.
I will conduct further analysis of the census data for James in Laurel County, KY. Further
suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
