Hello Florence,
One year for Christmas my husband gave me 33 rolls of the newspaper The Jamestown
Press, Boone Co. Indiana. I used them for my own family research and then donated
the rolls to our local LDS Family History Center. He did not purchase the other
newspapers on microfilms.
Most of the rolls I received were of The Jamestown Press Newspaper. I have read all
of the pages several times I do recall (I think) an article of the surname Goldsbury,
although that does not mean it is there. Some of the newspaper issues are missing.
Unfortunately years latter after publication if someone wanted a copy of the obituary
or news story the newspaper office did not have a copy machine they would let people
buy the last paper sometimes the papers were just plain taken. Thus leaving no
newspaper copy for the archive.
The LDS Family History Center is only about 8 miles from my house and I go by there
often. I would be happy to stop in and check the date of Feb. 13, 1913. for the
obituary of your great grandfather if you think it would be in that newspaper.
I make no guarantees that the obituary will be in the newspaper but, since he was a
judge I am sure something should be there it may be nice to see how different
reporters reported the story. My great grandfather's obituary was horrible. It
listed no names correctly and referred to the deceased wife as just that " the
deceased wife". No name at all!
I have a cast on my arm and leg right now from a fall down the stairs and at times
just need to get out of the house and take a ride in the car so this would be a fun
adventure!
I can (if the machine is working) copy the front page for 25 cents and send it snail
mail. It is hard to type with a cast. I hope that is ok. I will let you know if I
find the obituary. I may be able to scan the the hard copy (copy from the microfilm)
and send it as a jpeg file, that way you could just copy it and put it in your
computer.
I will let you know what I find.
Sincerely, Janet ISLEY Price
