I have in my possession an old violin/fiddle, that has been traced to Squire N. Osburn, M.
D. He was first married to Minerva Hinton, and then to Isadore Briggs. He was born in
Parke County, Indiana on October 11, 1836. Inside the old violin, in pencil, is written S.
N. Osb----, M. D., Rainsville, Indiana. I've had this old instrument in my possession
for about 22 years. In 1982, the Indiana State Library done a tremendous amount of
research for me, checking on the name inside the violin, and they traced it to Squire N.
Osburn. I have about 2 and 1/2 pages of documentation. I would like to get this old violin
to a direct decendant of Squire N. Osborn. The top was probably made by him, and the rest
is anyones guess. I will say that altho its not a beautiful instrument, it sounds real
good. Contact bmerrill(a)mmcable.com.
