I am 7th generation descendant, looking for information, I would like to track him to Mannheim. I also have a lot of questions about this man, after reading his official records and unofficial story records. Maybe someone could hlep?
What were the names of his siblings? It would help to trace him in Mannheim. What year was he actually born? He gives at least two different dates for his birth, 07/08 and 04/15...which is correct?
Was his family Ashkenazic Jews (Yiddish)? Were they practicing Catholics but had converted from Judaism somewhere before his generation? I base this simply that Leib is a common Yiddish name. How was his last name actually spelled? What were his parents' names?
If he were to actually study to become a priest, he had to prove he was Catholic, so there would be at least a christening and baptism record of him yet in an official document he states that there were no records of him in Mannheim.
If he had been at the end of his family, the 14th or 15th child, I find it unlikely that he was named for his father, since in naming tradition that is usually given to the first born son. I mention this because in traditional Catholic practice, the last son was expected to enter the priesthood.
There are so many variations of what his real name would have been, Hans, Johan, Johannes, etc..... What is the truth? I find it interesting that one of his daughters with Sarah Barbara was named Jerusha, a Hebrew name. This is not a typical Catholic name.
Sorry if this came out jumbled, I just have a lot a questions about inconsistencies. What boat did he come in through Maryland? Where did that boat come from?

Message Board Post:
For those who have not already discovered the site, there are free census transcriptions for Indiana counties at www.us-census.org/states/indiana.
These transcriptions are very useful to researchers who do not have access to images. They can also be useful to researchers who do have access to images because in many cases, they are prepared by people do research in the areas they are transcribing, and they are able to provide a more accurate index of names.
These transcriptions have been done by volunteers who work for free and provide their work at no charge, and the number of transcriptions available depends upon the number of volunteers willing to do the work. Because of this, only a few census years are available for Boone County.
If you do research in Indiana, be sure to check and see if there are transcriptions available for the areas you are researching. Also, PLEASE consider volunteering to do a transcription, even if it's only one township. Your work can help hundreds, if not thousands, of your fellow researchers.

Yes, I'm the one and the same Marilyn Walker. I will do some checking later today to see if I can help, on Nancy Hull. Since she died in 1881, there will be no death records for her unfortunately.

Thank you very much!! That is a great help.
Would you by any chance know the final resting place of Nancy Hull b 1810 KY d abt 1881 in Boone co. I have her will and probate documents but can't determine actual death date from them. Her husband, Richard Hull is buried at McCord Cemetery, but I didn't find her there.
Are you by any chance the Marilyn Walker who published the cemetery transcriptions for Boone Co? If so, thank you. I was able to locate my father's ancestors thru your transcriptions of Center Cemetery.
Thank you again.
