OLDEST WOMAN IN BOONE COUNTY
Concerning Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, who was mentioned the other day as having attained the age of 101 years, a special from Thorntown says, "Elizabeth Miller, living two and a quarter miles west of here, is the oldest woman in Boone county, and possibly the smartest for her age. She is from Dutch descent, and was the oldest child of George and Elizabeth Schull, born near Cincinnati, O., April 12, 1811, making her 101 years old. She came to Indiana with her parents when young and has lived in this state ever since.
"She married Daniel Miller, who died several years ago. Eight children were born to this union and two are still living, Amos Miller of Star City, and Mrs. Taylor Sikes, of Lebanon. She has nine grandchildren.
"Mrs. Miller joined the Dunkard church twenty years ago. When young she could dance on a pain of window glass. Her health has been good until four years ago when she began to fail slowly. Although she can be around the house and see objects plainly she can neither read nor write. Her height is less than five feet.

Infantile Paralysis
The 8-month-old baby of Mr. And Mrs. Frank Downard, of Danville, is suffering with infantile paralysis. The disease was diagnosed as such by Dr. Underwood , and he as town health officer has placed the infant under quarantine. It is the first case of this disease to make its appearance in Danville. It is a disease to be feared and one which the medical world has but little acquaintance with. Infants are susceptible to it, but adults are rarely affected with it. The little suffer is afflicted in the right leg.

Suffered From Cyclone
Stephen Dale, received a letter from his brother, Matthew Dale, living near Urich, Mo., stating that his neighborhood was visited by a cyclone Saturday evening the most disastrous known to that part of the country in years. The writer's entire farm was swept bare by the wind, every house, tree and fence being blown down. He also lost 75 hogs 12 cattle and 8 horses; and wrote Stephen that the work of twenty years was practically wiped away.
Matthew was injured by the falling of a brick structure, being buried to the depth of four feet by falling timbers and debris, but rescued before being seriously injured. Miraculously, the whole Dale family escaped serious injury, although several of their neighbors were killed.
A letter from another brother, Wesley Dale, at Urich, informed Stephen of the disaster; but stated that the writer was several miles from the tornado's path yet could see its work plainly.
Both Mathew and Wesley Dale will be remembered by the older citizens of Jamestown and vicinity, having left here twenty years ago and located at the present homes in Missouri.

KILLED BY AUTO
Rev. and Mrs. Preston Smith and husband of dead woman Also badly injured Car Dashed Down Embankment
Mrs. Frank Smith, of Whitestown was killed and Mrs. Preston Smith, the Rev. Preston Smith and his son Frank H. Smith, also of Whitestown were badly injured Thursday morning near Carmel, Hamilton Co. when an automobile which they were riding turned turtle down an embankment as the auto party drove along the road following White river near the farm of Lon Marner. All of the members of the party were pinned beneath the car, it being half an hour before release was affected. The extent of their injuries to Rev. and Mrs. Preston Smith and Frank H. Smith could not be learned. They were taken to Carmel with the remains of Mrs. Frank Smith, and are now under care of physicians. Frank Smith was driving the car and thinks that while watching the river as he sped along, he lost control of the machine, and it dashed down the embankment. The party in the automobile had left Whitestown early this morning, intending to be gone through out the day on a fishing trip. At the first news of the!
accident, Roy Smith, banker of Whitestown and George Clark, a garage owner left in an automobile for the scene.
Mrs. Frank Smith until April ?3 last was Miss Ogle Artman, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Abraham Artman, 701 Hamilton street, Lebanon. On that date she was married to Mr. Smith. The injured persons are all prominent residents of Whitestown.
