After purusing the plat maps and census records, I think I have figured out that my ggg grandfather, James Smith, was living in close proximity to Hardin Smith and Henry Smith. I believe they probably are related, but have found a few sources suggesting Henry Smith was married to a Juliann Coil and that Hardin was their son. There is no listing for James as a son to them.
One of their sons did migrate to the same area as my Gibson line, they had the same post office address.
My Smith is James Smith b. 1802 Ky wife is unknown, but she died before 1850, I suspect approximately 1847 when their last child was born.
Their 1850 census is this:
Eliz 21-Ky(Married to John R Gibson/Gipson Jr.)
Mary J 16-Ky(Married to John S Gibson)
John Henry 12-Ind(married to Elizabeth-one of their sons was Tilman)
Eil H-10-Ind
Eliza 7-Ind(married to David Stutzman)
If anyone at there has an opinion, please respond.

I recently spent some time at the Maryland State Archives researching Issac Pornter, Susan's brother. I came across her death certificate which stated the following:
Birth-22 Feb 1824 in VA
Death 28 July 1906 in Wofsville, Frederick, MD
Did not suffer. Sick for three days and died from paralysis.
Hope this helps. Any info you have on John Portner or on the Shroyer's would be helpful!
Greetings,
For the past few years we have been working an on extensive website
with history of Primitive Baptist Churches, county by county, in over
thirty states, mostly in the midwest, but including some information for
states across the northern tier of America. For some of these states we
have only sketchy information, but for others (such as Illinois, Indiana,
Missouri, and Iowa) we have a fair amount of detailed information. We
have tried to locate and obtain church records, and have entered the
names of members into a database, and have also put the surnames of the
members on our website for each church, county by county. We began
working on our database in 1986, and it presently has over 53,000
entries, and we are adding to it all the time as we find more church
records. We have been trying to assist genealogists in locating ancestors
ever since we organized our library in 1988.
To view our website, go to the following URL:
http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html
To go directly to the index of states included in our research
(including Indiana), go to
http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/Index.html
We are posting this message on the county forums for those counties
in Indiana in which the Danville Regular Baptist Association churches
exist or have existed, and we would be grateful if anyone can help us
locate any of the annual minutes of that association which we lack, or
any of the records of the churches which composed the association. Some
of the names of these churches include Abner's Creek (records located),
Big White Lick Creek (records located), Eagle Creek, Union, Providence,
Thorntown, Mt. Tabor, Clear Creek, Cynthiana, Antioch, Little Flock, and
many more.
We have very limited volunteer staff, but will do our best to
respond as time permits.
Sincerely,
Elder Robert Webb

Dale,
The eldest daughters of Denman and Amelia Ann (Johnson) HIGHLAND, Nancy and
Mary (Polly), married the brothers John Hathaway CLEMENTS and Philip Andrew
Clements, respectively. According to group sheets given to me, Nancy's
daughter "Ameliann" married Samuel H. COOMBS, in 1835 in Putnam Co. Indiana, as you
have it. The sheet does not give her death date.
It is my understanding that the above Highland / Clements couples were in
Boone County sometime in the 1830's. Nancy Highland was buried in the Pratt
Cemetery in Boone County.
You can contact me directly if you want to discuss this information further.
(Note: a brother of Ameliann, Denman J. Clements, married Alice Coombs in
Putman Co., also.)

I have Pearl A. Owens born c.1891 IN, married c1908 to Clyde John Culley b. 27 May 1889 Boone County, IN. I have one child identified, Ida Jane Culley born 9 Feb 1910 who married Kemp Dickerson c1929.
I also have Hiram Walter Owens b. 1 Jan 1901 in Boone County, married Edith Rose Graves b. 26 Jul 1903, on 24 Nov 1920 in Boone County. Hiram was the son of John Spencer Owens and Mary Ann Huffman, grandson of James F. Owens and Mary Jane Harris.
Is John Spencer Owens a brother of Lewis Wilson Owens?
I am intersted in any information on these connections.

Is there any way to know who her children and their spouses were from Lewis' obit?
Besides Mary, I'm also trying to find two of her sisters buried in Boone County; one is supposedly buried in Pleasant View Cemetery. I could e-mail the info to you directly if you would prefer.

Yes, Lewis is buried there also..along with several other Owens. I read this cemetery a few years ago, it very well could be an error in the name, as some stones are hard to read. I published vol 2 of the Boone Co cemeteries last year. Hope this helps, if you need anything else, let me know..my email address: marilynsue1945(a)yahoo.com
I no longer live in Boone Co or I would go verify the name and dates...I may be able to find other info as I have a bunch of Boone Co materials here in my home.
Happy searching.

That's the right person, just the wrong name and date of birth -- odd! Is Lewis buried in the same cemetery?

There is a Nancy Coombs age 10, Polly Ann Coombs age 11 and a Levi
C. Coombs age 6 living in the household of John Clements in the 1850 Boone
Co. IN census. Looking for the parents of the Coombs children.
Therre is a record that Samuel H. Coombs married Amelia (Ameliann) Clements
in Putnam Co. IN in 1835. Possibly the same Samuel H. Coombs is shown
in the 1860 Boone Co. IN census with wife Sarah A. 32 b. OH. Looking for
a record of the death of Amelia Clements Coombs before the 1850 census.
Denman Coombs at the age of 8 years is listed in the household of William Crisman
in the Boone Co. IN 1850 census. Looking for the Coombs parents of Denman.

I think Cathy is offline these days, because I have been unable to get ahold of her for some time. But I can fill you in some.
The Bowen family she was looking for was the family of Thomas Jefferson Bowen and Martha Melvina ["Patsy"' Powell. Thomas was a son of John A. Bowen and Jane Wilson, and John MIGHT -- notice I said MIGHT -- be an older brother to Sampson.

Am still searching for possible burial places for James Smith b. 1803 and his daughter, Mary Jane Gibson b.1827-1834. Does anyone have access to burial records in the Order of Oddfellows cemetery? or to Poplar Grove? or to Union? Those we be my best bets in or around Jamestown.
Thanks,
