Hi,
Could someone tell me where I might find the tax records for Whitestown
and Marion Twp. back into the 1850's? In the courthouse? If so, what
department?
I am also interested in finding both marriage certificates and death
certificates from 1890's to 1930's. Where would I find them? Probably
in health department, but where is that located in Lebanon?
I am coming to Lebanon next week and would appreciate it if someone
could tell me where to look for the above.
Thanks,
Janice Shives

Not only is it possible, I'd say that it is likely. The census taker was
probably spelling Catherine with a "K", which in the old script of that time
could easily be mistaken for an "H".
I'd bet you are looking at your ancestor's mother. Check near where she is
living and see if there are any other Miller's within a few pages or even in
the same township. Also check the names of your ancestor, William A.
McDonald's children. Scottish naming patterns were usually pretty rigid.
The first and second sons were named for the Paternal and Maternal
grandfathers. The first and second daughters were usually named for the
maternal and paternal grandmothers. I'd be very surprised is William A.
didn't name a daughter Catherine. Likewise, one of his two oldest sons is
probably named for his father. Check the census records in Ohio for the
first one after your William A. was born, and see if there isn't a head of
household with one of the names of Williams two eldest sons. Hope this
helps a little.

Hi,
I have been searching for the parents of my great grandfather William A.
McDonald for the last seven years. Records in Boone County including
census state that he was born in Ohio. He married my greatgrandmother,
Polly Jane Smiley in 1853 and lived the rest of his life in and around
Whitestown and Marion Twp. He is buried in Mts. Run Cemetery.
Is anyone out there researching this family? I am at a brick wall. But
I did uncover something interesting the other day on the 1850 Boone
County census. I found a Hatherine McDonald, born Tenn. age 57 living
in Boone County with Squire McDonald, age 24, Mariah, age 22, James R.
age2, Regan A. age 26. Anyone know anything about this family?
Now my William A. McDonald states on a marriage application that his
mother's maiden name was Catherine Miller, born in Tenn. I wonder if it
is possible that Hatherine could be a misspelling for Catherine---the
age would be right and so would the birthplace.
Anyone know anything about Hatherine McDonald? I believe the family was
living in either Clinton or Marion Twp.
Thank You,
Janice Shives
Good Morning!
If you have an Indiana based web site and would like to increase traffic to
your web site, consider joining the Indiana Ancestry Web Ring. For further
information, or to visit the sites already in the ring, go here:
http://www.geocities.com/~prairiecreek/indiana.html
A web ring is a group of web sites with a common interest - in this case,
Indiana genealogy and history. These web sites are "joined" together through
the web ring, which allows a "tour" of the ring sites by clicking on the
ring logo available on each member's page. You can tour the ring without
having a web site, but you must have a web site to join.
Hope to see you there!

Seeking additional information about William Jefferson McCord born in the
early 1830s in Boone County, Indiana. William was the son of John McCord, Jr.
& Sophia Watson. According to the Lebanon Pioneer William was the first white
child born in Boone County, Indiana. He lived in Boone County for a number of
years before moving to Kansas. Would also like to seek out his descendants as
well as his ancestors.
Thanks,
Tim McCord
To all Reed (by any spelling) Researchers,
My name is Nell Logue and I have a database of around 50,000 Reeds (by
any
spelling) and Kin. I am doing Look-ups for all interested researchers,
but I
need more Reed (by any spelling) information. Please submit your
information to
me to go in the Database. I would appreciate it very much and it will
help so
many other people. I am trying to get information from all over the USA
and
also foreign countries. After your information has been received and put
in the
Reed Database you may send in for Look-Ups on your Reeds (by any
spelling) that
perhaps someone else may have sent me.
Please send your information to me at Nelllogue(a)texoma.net
(Note the 3 'l's in the Nelll).
In the subject line please write Reed Information
If at all possible send your information in GEDCOM format, as I can
import it
right into the database. Text documents have to be typed in and take a
lot of
time. Your genealogy program manual will tell you how to export a
GEDCOM. Try
it. It is not difficult to do, but if, after your try it, you can not do
it,
then send your information any way you know how.
I am going to be taking a short rest period from the Look-Ups while
getting in
all of this new information and getting it in the Database. So when
everything
is ready to start the Look-Ups again I will put a message on the Reed
Genforum
at http://genforum.genealogy.com/reed/ and also on the Read Genforum at
http://genforum.genealogy.com/read/ and also on the Read List at
READ-L(a)Rootsweb.com <READ-L(a)rootsweb.com>. When you send in for a
Look-Up
please write Reed Look-Up in the subject line.
By the way, if you have books on Reeds (by any spelling) the information
from
those books would be great to go in the Database. They may contain the
one
ancestor that someone has been hunting.
I will be looking for your Reed information. Please help.

Folks, Many of our surnames of Southeastern Kentucky, also made their way to
