OIL DEALER WEDS HIS STENOGRAPHER
The Groom Has Married Grandchildren Who Are Older Than His Child Wife.
Hartford City, Ind., April 29.-Miss Hazel Clapper, aged 17 years, a girl of slight build
and prepossessing in appearance, was wedded here Saturday by Justice of the Peace Lucas to
Orlando Sipe, an oil dealer, who gave his age as 60 years, but who, his acquaintances say,
has passed the three-score and ten mark, having been a soldier in the war of the
rebellion.
Sipe has been wedded twice before and has married grandchildren older than his child-wife.
The nuptial event took place at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Henry Clapper.
Immediately after the ceremony the Automobile of the groom appeared in the front of the
house and in a short time the newly married couple clamored in and were whirled away,
their destination being unknown.
Recently Sipe and his present wile, accompanied by her brother, Charley Clapper, took a
trip into Canada. It was reported that they had eloped to get married, but this rumor
proved to be untrue.
The present wife of Sipe was formerly the stenographer and bookkeeper in his offices.
