I'm searching for more concrete evidence of the death of Joseph W.
Holliday's wife, Elizabeth J. (Campbell) Holliday-Cook.
Find A Grave states it's 19 Sep 1861
. . . . (thought the image only shows "Sept")
Ancestry of rutherford B. & Lucy Webb Hayes states it's Sep 1861
. . . . (librarian didn't know the answers to the dates)
Blackford County Historical Society states it's 19 Sep 1885
. . . (based on the records of re-internment at BCHS library)
Elizabeth J. Campbell married Joseph W. Holliday on Dec. 5, 1848, in Grant
County, Indiana. After Holliday's death on Mar. 12, 1852, Elizabeth drew a
pension for five years Mar. 1852-Mar 1857. She tried to re-applied in Mar.
or Apr. 1857 but only recived beiefly up to 1859 as she re-married to the
widower, John Joseph Cook on Jan. 25, 1858 in Blackford County, Indiana.
However, she also applied for her daughter, Nancy Aline (Ella) Holliday ,
she recieved pension from Mar. or Apr. 1857 - end of 1562 when benefit
ended. In the meantime, Nancy had been living with family after her
mother's death, most likely, her uncle William H. Campbell, brother of
Elizabeth.
Elizabeth and John J. Cook had two more children of their own. Adaliza
(Adda) Scott Cook, born in Nov. 1858, and a baby named Joseph W. Cook
(according to the Ancestry of R.B. & L. W. Hayes) he was born 30 Sep 1861
and died 2 Oct 1861. As you can see the situation of conflicting dates from
the mother's death to the baby's birth. I'm guessing the Presidential
library who place that information online must of seen that situation too.
But there's seems to be no answers.
Do you happen to know that answer? When did Elizabeth J. (Campbell)
Holliday Cook died? and when was the baby's birth date?
Thank you for your time.
