I don't know what you already know.
6-11-02 - Lyndall, Brad Crull and 4 boys had finished bailing hay and were
putting the equipment away. Casey was in the hayloft, and thought the
loft was a little longer than it was. He stepped back into 'air', and
fell a drop of about 8 to 10 feet.
Reaction time on those present was pretty quick. Lyndall came on the
scene when Brad was giving Casey mouth to mouth. The ambulance arrived, I
arrived, the paramedicts arrived, Lifeline arrived.
Dr. Mary Aaland is his primary doctor.
He has a skull fracture, but all of his body parts appear unbroken. He
moves all his body parts ~ not paralized. 72 hours is the normal time for
swelling of the brain to reach its peak. Casey's swelling was on the
decrease this morning (6-14-02) - 6 hours ahead of schedule.
We watch ICP numbers. That has something to do with the level of
swelling. We want the numbers less than 20. That child has ranged
everywhere from 8 to 70. 70 was briefly at one point. His average was
25. They drilled a small hole in Casey's skull to incert a tube to
monitor this level.
After the CT scan showed the swelling was going down, the ICP numbers did
not reflect that. They drilled another hole on the other side of Casey's
skull and inserted the "cadillac" monitor. This monitor gave Casey and
ICP reading of 3.
Many stories, lots of stuff has happend. In a nutshell for this hour of
today, Casey's swelling is on the decline, his ICP numbers are 6-7-8.
After the swelling is under control or gone, they will begin getting the
boy to wake up to stay.
I will do my best to keep you posted.
Thank you so much for your prayers.
