A YOUTHFUL ELOPMENT
It is Nipped in the Bud by Officers in This City
In the police station there languished to-day a young fellow of about twenty years a
rather a pretty brunette of perhaps three years his junior.
The pair were Albert G. Dowell and Ida F. Peppel, both of Hartford City, Ind.
The idea had been conceived by this young couple that they could get up a romantic stir by
running away and getting married. So early this morning they left their native home and
flew. The preceded to elope, according to their own notion.
Mr. Pepple, father of the girl, learned of their rash act and telegraphed here to have the
officers be on the alert.
Officers Harkenrider and Daseler (sp?) were at the northside depot when the Muncie train
arrived and sure enough the runaways were on the train having purchased tickets to this
point.
They were accordingly taken into custody and behind the bars as stated to await the
arrival of the girl's father this evening.
