Members of the Montpelier Historical Society met at
the Community Building, Dec. 28, 2004 with Ron
Twibell, Vice President; conducting the meeting.
Those present reviewed the historical house walking
tour which was held on Dec. 5th. Pictures of houses in
Montpelier were displayed and members discussed
histories of houses and the families who had lived in
them.
The society is always interested in collecting
information about the community and welcomes the
public to attend its meetings to share any photographs
or histories they may have.
A video was shown about Abraham Lincoln's formative
childhood years in Indiana. Information was relayed
about a current project in Perry County to preserve a
log house which the Lincoln family had connections to.
Preservation is an important function of any historic
organization and members are encouraged to participate
in whatever way they can to record things or events
that relate to the community.
