Blackford/Wells Genealogy Society
The objectives of this Society are as follows:
1. To Collect, preserve, secure, document, organize
and record the
early
ancestry of any and all families that the society or
any of its members
decide to study.
2. To develope, stimulate and record historical,
vital, and personal
facts
concerning Blackford and Wells Counties and the people
who originated,
developed and built the communities therein as well as
those who
currently
residing in this area.
3. Study and encourage development and maintenance of
genealogical
files
and department entrusted to their care.
4. Any other project that the Society may desire to
undertake when
deemed
appropriate by the majority vote of the members
present at a regular
meeting or special meeting.
5. To Stimulate, assist and instruct all those persons
who may be
interested in genealogy.
6. Actively seek to introduce and generate interest in
and
understanding
of genealogy amoung those not now familiar with its
traditions.
Membership is open to anyone interested in genealogy.
Meetings are held in the Wells County Public Library
on the third
Saturday
every other month. Nov. 20, 10 am.
Membership fee is $10. for single and $15.00 for
families.
The Society currently has two books published. Earily
Settlers of
Blackford and Wells Counties($45) and Wells County
Will Index($20).
