Hi Donald,
I am very interested in what you may have concerning the Lowrey line.
I believe it was "my" Ruth Lowry who married Robert Duffey in Guernsey County,
Ohio in 1833. One of their children, Elizabeth Duffey married William J. Teach in 1853.
I recently located an 1850 census record for a John & Nancy Ann Lowry in Blackford
County, Ind. He is listed as 62 and she 63. Next to them are living John Lowry Jr. and
his wife Elizabeth, and next to them are Benjamin & Hannah Lowry and their family. Are
John and Nancy Ann the parents of "my" Ruth as well as John Jr. and Benjamin?
John is listed as having been born in Virginia while Nancy Ann was born in Maryland.
Robert & Ruth "Duffey" are also living in Blackford County at this time
along with their children Elizabeth, Lucinda, Sealy, John W., Nancy A., Catherine &
Avery (twins).
Their future son-in-law William J. Teach, 18 y/o at the time, is also living in Blackford
with his parents John & Ann (Mustard) Teach.
By 1859, John C. Teach was presumed dead after traveling to California in search of gold
in 1851/52. His "widow" Ann Teach then married Robert Duffy! In the 1860
census they are living together, while Ruth is living with her son. Do you know of a
divorce between Robert & Ruth?
Any info you have would be greatly appreciated as this is the first I have heard of the
parents of Ruth.
Thanks
Mike Sparks
