Thayer—Jones.
One of the loveliest weddings of the month was tha t of Miss Bessie Jones
and Mr. Charles F. Thayer which took place Tuesday, June 22, at 8 o'clock
at the home of the bride's father, Mr. Frank L. Jones, of Hoagland avenue.
To the strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march, which was played by Miss Ida
Baldwin, of Erie, Pa., the bride entered the living room with her father
and met the bridegroom and his attendant, Mr. Ralph Jones, a brother of the
bride. The bride and groom stood in front of a grouping of small palms,
ferns and jars of syringa blossoms as Rev. C. Claude Travis, of the Wayne
Street M. E. church, read the marriage service. The bride looked very
handsome in her wedding costume. The bridal gown was a beautiful one, made
of white satin duchess and trimmed with real lace of princess pattern. The
bride wore a small wreath of white rosebuds in her hair and held a shower
bouquet of bride roses. Immediately after congratulations had been extended
and received the company was served a buffet supper in the dining-room. The
decorations of the rooms were extremely pretty. The table was laid in
handsome lace and decorated with pink sweetpeas with a basket of flowers in
the center with bows of pink gauze on the handle. Pink candles under
pinklined silver filagree shades stood at the corners of the tablé. On the
buffet and in other places of thé rooms were jars filled with pink roses
and snapdragon and the mantels in all rooms were banked with small ferns,
sweetpeas and roses. White mingled with green formed decorative colors in
the hall and bridal room. Vases of white gladiola, snapdragon, syringa,
carnations and roses were used with a most charming effect and chandeliers
and doorways were trimmed with asparagus vine. Mr. Jones and Miss Hatch, an
aunt of the bride, and the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Thayer, of St. Joseph, Mo., received the wedding guests. Mrs. Alex Reid, of
Richmond, a cousin of the bride, poured the coffee at the supper and Miss
Florence Hatch, another cousin, served the salad. Miss Carrie Snively, Miss
Mabel Hatch, Miss Dorothy Kell and Miss Beatrice Kell also assisted in the
dining-room. The bride and groom have gone on a trip to the seashore and
will live in Charlotte, N. C. Mr. Thayer is a civil engineer and a graduate
of Boston School of Technology. For traveling the bride wore a gray green
three-piece costume and hat of same coloring with trimming of foliage and
chrysanthemums. The bride and groom were classmates and graduated at the
same time from this city's public high school. At that time Mr. Thayer's
parents were living here. The bride is a lovely young woman in appearance
and in character. Guests from out of town present at the wedding were Mr.
Isaac Baldwin and Miss Ida Baldwin, of Erie, Pa.; Miss Ruth Hatch, of Union
City, Pa.; the Misses Bohnan, of Hartford City; Miss Green, of Albion; Mrs.
Alex Reid, of Richmond; Mrs. Ogden Pierce, jr., of Chicago, and Mr. and
