Meyer—Chaska.
A rose wedding with only the family relatives present to witness the
nuptials took place at half after 12 o'clock today at the residence of Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Chaska, wheri their daughter, Selma Gertrude, became the
bride of Mr. Gustave Meyer, of Philadelphia. The ceremony of the Jewish
church was read by an uncle of the bride, Dr. Israel Aaron, of Buffalo, and
Rabbi Harry Ettelson, of this city, assisted in the service. The bride
looked very handsome in her white gown of exquisite embroideries and fine
valenciennes and baby Irish laces on French batiste which was the
foundation of the gown. The costume was beautiful and refined and the bride
wore a corsage bouquet of white roses, made in old-fashioned manner with
lace handkerchief back of it to protect the gown. After the religious
ceremony the wedding breakfast was served, covers being laid for ten. The
table was literally a rose table. On the cloth were strewn many Golden Gate
roses and leaves and in the center of the table was a low basket filled
with roses and their foliage. This basket and the flowers were a gift from
Buffalo friends. Roses appeared in the decoration of each course at the
breakfast, and china, and as much as possible the menu itself, carried out
the wedding colors. This afternoon the bride and groom left for Canadian
points including a trip down the St. Lawrence river. They will spend a
month in travel and after the first of August will be at home at the
Brantwood hotel, Philadelphia. In the fall Mr. and Mrs. Meyer will go to
housekeeping. The bride has an elegant trousseau and many beautiful
remembrances from relatives and friends. For traveling Mrs. Meyer wore an
olive green linen, an imported costume, trimmed with small black buttons
and having a little yoke of embroidered ecru net. With this suit the bride
wore a black horsehair braid hat trimmed with black velvet bows and a
single japónica blossom. Dr. and Mrs. Aaron, of Buffalo, and Dr. and Mrs.
Nathan Stern, of Indianapolis, were the only guests from away. Mr. Meyer is
a successful young business man who has already made many friends in the
city.
