Through the Allen County Public Library website on the Genealogy research page, you will
find a link to World Vital Records. There are many newspapers that are available for
research. So far, for me, I have used this research tool to input the name of the person
I'm researching, the location and date time period (you can search a 20 year span at a
time) and if the name appears in a local paper that is available on site it will be
listed. Recently I have found many articles of family members, mostly in the Ft. Wayne
area. Hope this helps. I'll be happy to guide you in what I have learned so far.

Subject: [INALLEN] Allen Co 1861 - 1866
Is there a collection of microfilm for newspapers published in ALLEN Co.
during 1861 - 1866 ? Using GenealogyBank and
Ancestry.com have only found a
few scattered dates. The "Elkhart Weekly Review" comes up with many dates
for that span of time using "Fort Wayne" as a search term [the city I am
interested in].
Or, if such items do not exist, what neighboring county might have
newspapers from that period of time ?
And, might there be a book that details what went on in Fort Wayne during
that period of time? Would be most appreciative of any suggestions that
would enlighten me.
Thanks, Nancy NIRDLINGER Gerbino
