Exactly what is the name of the document you used to look up WWI vets from
Indiana and where did you access it?
Thanks for your help.
Deborah
Deborah,
It was at the Indiana State Archives in Indianapolis, IN.
It was on microfilm and I have a note on the back of the one photocopy I made:
Indiana World War I Service Records GSU # 1675376
The individual records are microfilms of cards. The top line on the card
has the veteran's name and service number and race. Other information on
the card include:
residence
Location of enlistment (The fellow I was interested in was a hoosier but he
enlisted in California)
Place of birth
Age or date of birth
A list of organizations that the veteran was attached to while in the army
rank
notes regarding engagements, overseas service, wounds.
A veteran I was interested in died while in service (Spanish Flu epidemic of
1918) and it was noted that his mother had been notified and her place of
residence.
She lived in Ft Wayne so now this post is relevant to the Allen County mail
list <GG>.
Best regards,
