Hi Trina,
Carlisle Barracks was and is in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pa., north of
Gettysburg and SW of Harrisburg. You can write there to see if they have
any pictures of your military ancestor, either individual or regimental
pictures.
I wrote asking about my g-g-grandfather who was in the 142nd Indiana
Infantry and received the following reply:
"This letter is in reply to your quest for a photograph of John Warner, a
Civil War soldier. We have checked ourphoto files and do not have a
photograph of the above named individual at this time.
However, you may want towrite us again in a year or two as we are adding
new images to our collection on a continuing basis. Perhaps someday we will
have a photograph of the soldier you are seeking."
There was a postscript - " We have no group, company, or regimental photos
of the 142nd Indiana Infantry."

Hello. After months of trying to obtain my g-grandfather's military
record
from the National Archives, I have finally recieved it. I am so
elated,
now I
have his death date, where he inlisted, and where he was stationed
at.
What I am wondering is if someone can answer a few questions for me.
On the record it has a section pertaining to Assignment & Geographical
Locations and it then has 10 Co. 158 OB. Does anyone have any idea what
this
means?
Also, can someone tell me where the Carlisle Barracks was in PA? It has
him
listed as inducted and seperated from there.
Thanks in advance!
