First and foremost I am not starting anything. I am simply a volunteer
working for another genealogical project on the internet. The more different
access sites we have available to the researchers the better able we are to
obtain data and that is the main purpose of research. I cannot and know
nobody that I know, can use only one page for their research, I have never
seen just one website that has all the data on everything. The GenExchange
is only offering an alternative search area, I don't know how you can feel
it is diluting the material and the volunteers, a great many volunteers
place their services on many different pages and the source for info cannot
possibly be deleted unless we completely took it off the internet which
would be defeating to our purposes, which is getting the raw data out to the
people. I have several IN counties and alot of the USGENWEB page managers
have already placed or offered to place links to our pages and I have done
the same. Nobody is competing with anyone, we are all working for the same
end. Genealogy is the one thing that
MORE IS BETTER.
As with anything else in the United States, this is only an option being
offered. Nobody is forcing anyone to use it. If anyone has found that one
website that has everything I ever wanted in data and can eliminate all
others, please, please let me know as I would love to have that in my
favorites.
