I talked to my Mom and sister tonite about Jefferson Pharmacy and this
is what they told me. The last owner was a man named Ron Hohenbrink.
He had several pharmacies in Ft. Wayne and sold off several of them but
still has at least one that remains open. It's called South Anthony
Medical Center. My sister says you would probably not get much help from
him however.
Ron bought Jefferson Pharmacy from Dennis Rorick. I've met this man
before and he is very nice. After Denny sold the pharmacy he went back
to school to become an attorney. He now practices law in Ft. Wayne and
the address to his office is 1410 E. State Blvd., Ft. Wayne, IN 46805.
Sis thinks that Denny bought the store in the late 60's/early 70's.
Prior to Dennis Rorick, the pharmacy was owned by Bud Kohlinger. My
sister believes him to be the original owner...Denny Rorick could verify
this for you...She said that Mr. Kohlinger was very old at the time of
the sale and is probably deceased by now.
Another tidbit of interesting information...there used to be Doctors
offices in the back of Jefferson Pharmacy. Sis didn't know the names of
the doctors that occupied the office though. When Denny bought the
store the separating wall was knocked down and the offices were
converted into a storage room. She says that Denny could fill you in on
a lot of the history of the pharmacy...also...at the time of the sale
from Kohlinger to Rorick...there was a big write-up in the newspaper
about the Pharmacy. Maybe this news article could be of some help as
well.
I hope this little bit of info helps you in some way. Good luck to
you..

P.S. I know Pat Bogel is also helping you in your search - she is truly
an angel - she found my paternal grandparents for me a couple of years
ago. My grandfather had committed suicide before my dad was 1 and his
mother died when he was 12. She took the time to send me obituaries and
newpaper articles to help me understand what had happened all those
years earlier.
