Is this the same as the Allen County Infimirary? My gg Grandfather Eugene
Alfred Cattin passed away there Sept, 13, 1928. His obituary states that he
had been a resident there for the past four years.
Thanks,

This doesn't directly answer your question but there is a book in the Allen
County Library at Fort Wayne, "Allen County, Indiana Infirmary Deaths
1937-1973" indexed by Betty Gantt.
I have a page from it in my files. The book appears to be photocopies of
pages of a book of receipts. The page I have has 6 entries: each entry has
a sequential number and a name. The name appears to be of a deceased
person. Under the name is the following statement:
Received the body of (name of the deceased person).
R.H.C. (date & time)
Signed (name of the funeral home and signature of the person who picked up
the body)
My guess is that the "Infirmary" would have been a county run home for the
infirm and would not be the same as the state hospital. Based upon the
title of the book it looks as if it was around until at least 1973.
I am curious what the R.H.C. abbreviation might stand for?
