The 1870 Allen County Census index which I have shows William Dafforer,
Jr. on page 624 in Pleasant Township and William Daffron also on page
624. Might be your guy with a different spelling.

Pat, thanks very much for the 1870 info. It most likely is the same people. I
have run across DAFFRONS, DAFFORN, and also DAUPHINS with my DAFFINS. Seems
like these names got confused with each other quite often. There is a line of
DAUPHIN that first appeared in N.C. in the 1700's and as their children moved
to other areas, some of them actually became DAFFINS, while others of the same
line kept the DAUPHIN spelling. As for DAFFRON, there was a well known
DAFFRON in the same area in Md. as ther early Daffins, but he moved away at a
young age. I have nothing to connect these DAFFRONS with our DAFFINS,
