My ancestor, William Wilson Palmer, worked at the Bass Foundry in the
1890's-1900's. I have located two old Fort Wayne News-Sentinel Rotogravure pages
for 1903 and 1905 which
show some of the shop and furnace crew together (one was at a picnic at Hartman's
Grove, and the other was outside the shop). The names include:
Harry Shives, Sam Shives, Frank Hausbach, John Heyser, Otto Stoll, Gust Meyer,
Harvey Hoeppner, Barney Meyers, Tom Gordon, William Wilson Palmer, Frank Wisniski, August
Parnin, Fred Toll, Peter Hoerner, Paul Tierschman, Jacob Hoelle, John Squires, Herman
Lemmatzsch, Alonzo Timmis, Joseph Slater, George Hummel, William Limecooly, George
Fuelling, Otto Stoll, Jr., Ernest Eix, Peter Huntine, Henry Kortum, John Hall, Mr.
Hartman,
Richard Puff, John Szink, John Klumeier, Ben Metker, Peter Anderson, Jacob Hausbach, John
Schmidt, John Schwetz, Mart Hengsteller, Bill Hamilton, Joseph Slater, Mr. Eggeman, and
Stoll children.
Does anyone else have information about the Bass Foundry? or William Wilson Palmer?
Also, where was Hartman's Grove?
