Thanks, Brian, for looking to see if my JARVIS & HOWARD families might be
connected to your family. It would be fascinating to learn more about the
route the Wilkes Co NC folks took to get to Indiana. They seem to have
settled primarily in the central part of the state, but didn't all stick
together in one county, did they?

<< Hi Colleen.
I don't find any Jarvis or Howard's connected to my families. Quite a few
families migrated up from Wilkes county in the early 1800's when Indiana was
opened with land grants from the goverment. My lines from there, the Powells
and Wilcoxsons came in through Randolph county, Indiana, finally settleing
in Wells and Allen counties.
I haven't really looked closely at any N.C. resources, just Indiana county
histories and family books and others researching the same names. Sorry I'm
not much help to you

Brian, my ancestors, the JARVIS & HOWARD families, also came to
Indiana
from
Wilkes Co, NC, in the mid 1830's. They went to Rush Co & then
migrated up
to
Howard Co in 1850. I'm wondering if there's any connection to
your POWELL
family? I still need to search Wilkes Co NC more thoroughly. Have you
found
any good resources?
