I'm only guessing. This was the church I grew up in, baptized and
confirmed. It is torn down and the congregation merged
with Grace there is Fort Wayne and I would assume those records are with
that present church/congregation. I didn't realize St John's was that old.
My grandfather came to America in 1894 and this was his church in Fort
Wayne. I have lost touch with all my friends there, but I can give you a
couple of names
of folks in Fort Wayne who might be able to give you more information should
you be able to find them still alive. I left Fort Wayne nearly 40 years
ago, so I'm not much help.

Subject: [INALLEN-L] Early St John UCC Church Records
It is my impression that St John United Church of Christ in Ft Wayne
had
its start about 1844.
The following is from the Allen County Public Library's on-line card
catalog:
Title: St. John United Church of Christ, Fort Wayne, Indiana, record book.
General Note: Photocopy of original records, largely in German.
Incomplete contents: v. 1. 1868-1894.--v. 2. 1895-1900.--v. 3. 1900-1941.
Does anyone have any knowledge of where St John's records prior to 1868
might be?
Best regards,
Scott Bosecker
