Dear Debbie, The olden Christmases in Ft Wayne are different but not
forgotten.
We have restored the Santa Clause and reindeer and put them on a
different Bank at Main and Calhoun St. .People still come and bring
children to see the wonder of the lighting. Wow! and they come all
season.
The big wreath that was on the side of W&D was restored and put on the
side of another big building.
There is a tree up above the streets.
The Embassy Theatre brought back some Christmas figures for their
windows. They also had the beautiful lobby and foyers filled with the
Festival of Trees from Thanksgiving to Christmas for all to see.
The Museum had a festival of Gingerbread Houses which covered the 2nd
floor.
The Botanical Gardens downtown had the Festival of wreaths.
And Franke Park is the place of about 200 lighted figures, some 30 ft
high. By driving the roads you go through and passed them. It gets bigger
each year. Families can still slid down some hills in the park.
We have a new ice skating pond with a cover over it in Headwater Park
downtown that is very popular. It will remain open all winter.
Sorry about the promotional but we try to entertain ourselves with the
old and the new. I just want you to know this is would be a great place
to visit again !
Lovingly
Barb
